Pedro Porro will be sidelined for approximately a month after suffering a hamstring injury just 15 minutes into Tottenham’s defeat to Aston Villa on Saturday, manager Roberto De Zerbi has confirmed.
The Spanish right-back had only recently returned from a muscular issue before the setback. De Zerbi said: “I said after the World Cup, the management of Pedro should be different, because after the World Cup, many games. I don’t know what the problem is. It’s a hamstring, I think. Hopefully, it’s not a big problem.”
Porro is expected back either for the home fixture against Coventry in late October or the trip to Chelsea on 24 October, depending on his progress during the international break.
The injury adds to De Zerbi’s mounting problems. Dejan Kulusevski continues his recovery from a 500-day absence after knee surgery and is nearing a return to the squad, whilst Mykhailo Mudryk faces four to eight weeks out with an ankle problem sustained in training. Tottenham sit bottom of the Premier League ahead of their return to action at Old Trafford on 10 October.
