Jurgen Klopp has dismissed any notion that he is anticipating Liverpool being handed Premier League titles stripped from Manchester City following their guilty verdict on 114 of 115 charges.
Speaking ahead of Germany’s Nations League fixture against Serbia on Thursday, the former Liverpool manager said he harboured no expectations of compensation. “I’m far from preparing for a title or anything like that,” Klopp said. “I’m absolutely fine with what we’ve achieved in Liverpool. We fought hard on the pitch.”
Klopp expressed respect for Guardiola and City’s football but stressed he has not studied the details of the case. “I have big respect for Pep Guardiola and City’s style of football; they played fantastic football and were a top class opponent for us,” he added. “If any sanctions are handed out, I have nothing to do with it; I’ll wait and see.”
