Arsenal have made contact with the representatives of Bayer Leverkusen striker Christian Kofane, football.london reports, as Mikel Arteta plans ahead for the January transfer window.

The 20-year-old Cameroon international has attracted attention from multiple Premier League clubs. Manchester United have also spoken to his agents, and though Newcastle, Everton and Aston Villa have been linked, there has been no concrete movement from those clubs yet.

Kofane’s negotiations with Bayer have stalled. The German club wants to offer him an improved contract, increasing his wages from around £850,000 annually to over £3m a year and extending his deal to 2031, though his current terms run until 2029.

He has made 50 appearances for Bayer, scoring 10 goals and assisting nine times. He has earned seven caps for Cameroon, including two goals at the Africa Cup of Nations last year as they reached the quarter-finals.

Early days, but with two Premier League sides already speaking to his camp and Bayer keen to tie him down, there could be movement here come January.
