Rio Ngumoha has spoken about the guidance Mohamed Salah offered him in the months before the Egyptian left Liverpool, with the youngster crediting the veteran for having the biggest influence on his development so far.
Salah’s key message to the 18-year-old was clear: to reach the top, he must add more goals and assists to his play. Ngumoha, who has two goals and one assist in 35 senior appearances, said Salah emphasised the importance of improving those numbers. “Like he always says about looking at his numbers and he was always telling me: ‘Rio, you know you’re a good player but to reach the top, you have to add the goals and assists’,” Ngumoha told ITV Sport.
The Liverpool winger made his England debut on Tuesday and is now the third-youngest player in a competitive Three Lions cap, behind only Jude Bellingham and Wayne Rooney. He lines up for England’s Nations League clash with Croatia on Saturday.
